smolagents agent receipts

A smolagents agent leaves verifiable receipts for its work when its tools run through Zambo; there is no separate smolagents package, and none is needed.

Path 1: expose Zambo MCP tools

  1. Connect https://zambo.dev/mcp as a tool source through an MCP adapter supported by your smolagents environment.
  2. Expose the Zambo tools the agent is allowed to call, and run a non-sensitive test.
  3. Keep the returned receipt URL. The receipt records the Zambo tool, recorded inputs, observed output, saved time and digest over the saved result. Purely local calls are not included.

Path 2: call the HTTP endpoint from an existing tool

  1. In a tool the agent already has, make an HTTP JSON-RPC request to Zambo's MCP endpoint.
  2. Return the tool result and its public receipt link to the agent together.
  3. Keep that link in your job record. It describes only the request Zambo received, its observed output, time and saved-byte digest.

A real receipt you can check

Receipt 91e376b1-37f4-4c5b-a93e-5497da7410ce is a Zambo MCP prompt_shield receipt, saved 2026-10-18T11:36:51.819Z. It is not a CrewAI or smolagents run.

The public receipt page shows the observed result and saved time. Its machine verification response identifies the tool, recorded request context, canonical saved bytes, and output_hash digest. Recompute SHA-256 over the decoded saved bytes and compare that digest with the stored value. Check this receipt or read the machine check.

Limits of the endpoint integration

There is no dedicated smolagents wrapper, partnership or endorsement. Local tools leave no Zambo receipt unless their work is explicitly reported; reported work is not independently executed work.

A receipt proves the saved result was not changed since it was saved. It never proves the answer was right and never proves an external event happened.
