What is the best tool for proving freelance work was delivered?
The best tool for proving freelance delivery is the one your client can check without taking your word: a record made while the work runs, one link that opens in a browser, timestamps per step, a recorded Accept or Flag decision, and an export you keep. That is the Zambo handover.
Freelance delivery proof fails in a specific way: the evidence is assembled after the client doubts you, by you. Screenshots, exports, and a well-written summary all share that flaw, and a doubtful client can feel it even if they cannot name it. The criteria on this page remove the flaw. The record is made during the work, by the connection the work ran through, and the client's check does not route through your honesty.
Apply the criteria to the usual candidates. Email timestamps prove a message was sent, not what the work was. Project tools prove activity inside their own walls, which the client cannot independently check. A verifiable receipt (AER-1, IETF Internet-draft-zambo-aer1-21) wrapped in a handover is built for exactly this reader: one link, every step's saved result recomputed in the browser, source states shown, and a decision recorded at the end.
The honest limit belongs in the comparison too. Proof of delivery shows the work was delivered and that its record was not changed after the fact. Whether the work is good remains the client's call, which is why the acceptance decision is part of the record rather than a separate argument in an inbox.
Scorecard: delivery-proof criteria for freelancers
Criterion | Why it matters | Zambo handover. Record made during the work | After-the-fact evidence is self-assembled | Yes, per step, at execution. Client-checkable link | The checker must not be you | Yes, one browser link, no account. Timestamps per step | Delivery disputes are timing disputes | Yes, saved per step. Acceptance state | Approval must be a record, not a memory | Accept or Flag, recorded; self-accept refused. Export you keep | Records must survive cancellation | Yes, handovers and receipts export. Honest gaps | Hidden gaps destroy trust when found | Steps labelled resolved, not resolved, or not checked.
Worked example
Open the accepted public handover https://zambo.dev/handover/45434a17-4afc-486a-9646-e689bcee4297 and score it against the card: four steps, each checked, the client's acceptance recorded, release marked ok to release. Then open the pending one, https://zambo.dev/handover/bd7e5325-33fd-4c5e-b029-76b781fa2f51 , and see the same card mid-flight, which is what your client sees before deciding.
Frequently asked questions
I already send files by email. Is that not proof of delivery?
It proves a file was attached to a message at a time. It does not show what produced the file, which version the client approved, or whether the contents changed later. Those are the points delivery disputes actually turn on.
What if my client will not click links?
The handover exports as a document you can attach to the same email you already send. The link stays the checkable original; the export is the convenience copy. Most clients click when the invoice depends on it.
Does this work for non-AI freelance work too?
The record covers work that runs through the connection, which today means AI-assisted work. For purely manual steps, attach them as files to the same project record so the delivery packet stays in one place.

Try a handover
A handover gives your client one proof link with verifiable receipts to review, then Accept or Flag.
