Cross-AI memory: Claude, ChatGPT and Grok
Cross-AI memory lets connected clients carry saved context between Claude, ChatGPT and Grok through Zambo instead of starting each job from scratch.
In short: start a job in one AI, then continue it in another without re-explaining.
Zambo saves each tool call with a receipt, so the next AI picks up the recorded work, not your private chat.
Cross-AI continuity means starting work in one AI and continuing it in a different AI without losing anything. In other words: switch AI models mid-task without losing your work. You ask Claude to research a topic; you open ChatGPT and pick up exactly where Claude left off - same context, same progress, verifiable. Zambo makes this possible with one session ID: every tool call is recorded to a trail, and any AI with the session ID can continue the trail, quote earlier results verbatim, or run verify mode to audit the whole chain.
Try the Zambo demo · Explore Zambo
It is an AI session handoff for live work, not a copied transcript. You can switch AI models mid-task while preserving the actual execution state.
- STEP 1Start anywhere
Begin a job in any AI that has Zambo connected. It works under one session ID.
- STEP 2Every call is recorded
Each tool call is saved to a trail under that session ID.
- STEP 3Any AI picks up
Give the ID to another AI. It loads the recorded trail and continues.
The next AI reads the recorded tool history. It does not see your private chat.
How it works
For developers
Call zambo_universal with the user's exact request and one stable session_id. When the work is unfinished, call the same tool with mode: "continue" and that same session ID. Before declaring the job complete, use mode: "verify". Each execution returns a receipt with the observed UUID, timestamp, and hash, plus a shareable /receipts/<uuid> URL, so another AI can quote the evidence instead of guessing what happened.
Switch AI Models Mid-Task
Keep the same Zambo session ID when you move from one model to another. That ID points to the recorded tool calls and results, so the next connected model can continue from preserved execution history instead of relying on a copied chat transcript.
Ask the new model to continue with that session ID, then use verify mode to inspect the saved steps and receipts before reporting completion. The Zambo trail carries recorded work, not private chat, and a receipt does not prove that a recorded result was correct.

{"mcpServers":{"zambo":{"url":"https://zambo.dev/mcp"}}}Claude: hand off a saved Zambo session
Start work through the Zambo connection, keep the returned session ID, and give it to another compatible client. The next client can load recorded history and prior tool calls; it does not automatically gain Claude's private chat.
ChatGPT: continue from a saved session
If your ChatGPT setup can call the same hosted connection, pass the saved Zambo session ID and continue from recorded tool history. The handoff uses Zambo's session record, not an automatic sync of private chat.
Grok: resume work through the hosted connection
Connect a Grok setup that supports the hosted connection Zambo link, then continue with the same session ID. Zambo can return the saved session trail; private chat history is not copied automatically.
Gemini: continue from recorded tool history
A Gemini CLI setup can use the hosted connection connection. Pass the same session ID to continue from recorded tool history; the saved Zambo trail is distinct from Gemini's chat context.
Worked example
- Claude: call
zambo_universalwithneedandsession_idto start the research job. - ChatGPT: receive that session ID from the user and call
zambo_universalwithmode: "continue"to perform the next step. - Cursor: call
zambo_universalwithmode: "verify", then present the receipt and distinguish completed, blocked, and suggested work.
Why Zambo
Copy-paste carries words; Zambo carries work. A session trail preserves real tool executions and proof so you can start in Claude, continue in ChatGPT, and verify in Cursor.
Some tools solve a different problem: a free, local-first client that carries recorded context capsules between local models on the rigs their operators own. Zambo carries actual work: real tool executions with receipts, hashes, and audit URLs across Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor, with a free tier to start.
| Capability | Zambo | Local context-capsule tools | Handoff documents / skills | Local context tools | Stale public code hosting scripts |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Start in Claude, continue in ChatGPT | Yes - one session ID | No - local models and owned rigs | Manual copy-paste | No - local models only | Rarely works |
| Real tool executions carried over | Yes - native connection execution state | No - carries recorded semantic context | No - text only | Context only, no execution | No |
| Proof / receipts | Yes - receipt, hash, timestamp, audit URL | recorded Semantic Capsules and inspectable context; not a Zambo execution trail | No | recorded capsules, no tool receipts | No |
| Works across hosted AI clients | Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other connection clients | Local AI models on the rigs you own | Any client, manually | Local models only | Rarely works |
| Free tier / membership | Free connection tier: 20 calls/tool/day, no account | Free local client; $99/year founding membership | Free but manual | Varies | Free but dead |
FAQ
What is cross-AI continuity?
Cross-AI continuity is the ability to start a task in one AI model, such as Claude, and continue it in a completely different AI, such as ChatGPT or Cursor, with zero context loss. Zambo implements it with session trails: one session ID carries the full history of tool calls, results, and receipts, and any connected AI can continue from it.
How is this different from copy-pasting a chat transcript?
Copy-paste carries words; Zambo carries work. A transcript is a dead description - the next AI has to regenerate everything and it never comes back the same. A Zambo session trail contains the actual tool executions with timestamps, hashes, and receipts, so the next AI continues real state instead of re-reading a story about it.
How is this different from AI memory features?
Memory features remember facts about you inside one product. Cross-AI continuity moves live work between products. Zambo's trails persist tool results - anything materialized as a tool call survives the jump; the next model can verify every step.
Which AIs work with Zambo continuity?
For developers
Any AI that can call an MCP server: Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and others. Connect once via https://zambo.dev/mcp, then pass the session ID. The model is disposable; the work isn't.
Is cross-AI continuity free?
Yes - session trails and verify mode work on the free connection tier within the published call limits, with no account required. Heavy users can grab the $0.99 USDC on Base Day Pass.
Can I switch AI models mid-task?
Yes. Keep the same Zambo session ID, connect the next model to the hosted connection, and ask it to continue from the saved session trail. Use verify mode to inspect recorded steps and receipts; private chat is not transferred, and a receipt does not prove the result was correct.
How do I prove the work actually happened?
For developers
Every Zambo call returns a receipt with a UUID, timestamp, SHA-256 hash, and audit URL. A real execution also returns its shareable /receipts/<uuid> URL. Verify mode reconstructs the full step-by-step trail for anyone to audit.
How do I continue work from Claude to another client?
Start work through the Zambo connection, keep the returned session ID, and give it to another compatible client. The next client can load recorded history and prior tool calls; it does not automatically gain Claude's private chat.
How do I continue work from ChatGPT to another client?
If your ChatGPT setup can call the same hosted connection, pass the saved Zambo session ID and continue from recorded tool history. The handoff uses Zambo's session record, not an automatic sync of private chat.
How do I continue work from Grok to another client?
Connect a Grok setup that supports the hosted connection Zambo link, then continue with the same session ID. Zambo can return the saved session trail; private chat history is not copied automatically.
How do I continue work from Gemini to another client?
A Gemini CLI setup can use the hosted connection connection. Pass the same session ID to continue from recorded tool history; the saved Zambo trail is distinct from Gemini's chat context.

What carries over, and what does not
Connected clients can save and retrieve context through Zambo. This does not merge private chat histories, automatically read another provider's conversations, or guarantee that an AI will use every saved detail. Each AI needs an available connection and permission to call the tools.

What this evidence means
A receipt shows whether the recorded result matches its saved fingerprint and has not changed after the fact. It does not prove the answer is right or authenticate the issuer's identity. AER-1 is an open draft spec.
