How can I show a client exactly what work I did for them?

Send the job's step record: every step in order, each with its saved result, its producer label, and the sources it rested on, on one handover link. Exactly stops being a promise because the client can count the steps, open the ones that matter, and check any receipt behind them independently.

The gap between what clients accept and what they resent is usually visibility, not quality. A summary, however honest, asks the client to trust your compression of the work. The step record removes the compression: the research steps with their sources, the production steps with their results, your own review steps labelled as yours, in the order the work happened.

This is also the answer that survives scaling. A client with one project can be walked through a chat thread. A client with ten, or a manager inheriting the relationship, needs the record form: one link per job, readable in minutes, checkable at https://zambo.dev/verify/ at receipt level. The record does not ask the reader to believe your character; it gives them the work to inspect.

Keep the habit whole: record steps as they happen, including the unglamorous ones (checks, corrections, the source that failed and was replaced). A record with its repairs visible reads as more work, and more professional work, than a record polished into a highlight reel, because clients know real work contains repairs.

Checklist: the show-your-work delivery

1. Job recorded step by step as the work runs, your own steps included. 2. Handover built from the job at completion. 3. Delivery message: one line naming the work, one line naming the link, one line naming the decision you need. 4. Sources behind key claims visible with their states on the record. 5. Invoice references the handover link. 6. Record filed in the client's index with its acceptance date when the decision lands.

Worked example

The enumeration in public form: https://zambo.dev/handover/508a46e2-8d6e-4099-bd12-7ae461c72c55 shows a four-step job a client can count, open, and follow without any narration from the producer. That readability is the standard for "exactly."

Frequently asked questions

Is this not over-sharing my process?

You share the deliverable job's record, not your whole workspace. Clients see the steps behind what they bought, which is the part they are entitled to inspect, and your methods stay yours in every way that matters commercially.

My client is not technical. Will a step record land?

Steps read as a story of the work, which non-technical readers follow easily: what was looked into, what was made, what was checked. The technical layer (receipt verification) sits underneath for anyone who wants it, unused by most, reassuring to all.

What about work done partly outside the record?

Add those parts as steps with their saved results and your label, at the time they happen. A step added honestly during the job is record; the same step reconstructed at delivery is summary, and clients can feel the difference.

Try a handover

A handover gives your client one proof link with verifiable receipts to review, then Accept or Flag.
