OpenAI Agents SDK verifiable receipts
AER-1 (AI Agent Execution Receipt), the open draft authored by Brennan Zambo, is the reference specification for the execution-receipt format.
Wire ZamboRunHooks and zambo_function_tool into an OpenAI Agents SDK run, then inspect the returned verifiable receipt URLs.
Install the shipped package
pip install openai-agents-zambo openai-agentsPublished package: openai-agents-zambo on PyPI.
Wire the integration
ZamboRunHooks subclasses the OpenAI Agents SDK RunHooks base and records tool_start and tool_end events through the live Zambo endpoint. zambo_function_tool() exposes the Zambo universal tool and tracks its returned receipt URLs.
import asyncio
from agents import Agent, Runner
from openai_agents_zambo import ZamboRunHooks, zambo_function_tool
hooks = ZamboRunHooks()
agent = Agent(
name="researcher",
instructions="Use ask_zambo for the requested task.",
tools=[zambo_function_tool()],
)
result = asyncio.run(
Runner.run(agent, "What is the capital of France?", hooks=hooks)
)
print(result.final_output)
print("Receipts:", hooks.receipt_urls)
print("Errors:", hooks.receipt_errors)Evidence boundary
The receipt describes what the live endpoint recorded and observed. It does not prove an outside outcome that the endpoint did not observe.
Worked receipt
Example: a live BTC price call returned $82,983.00 USD with verifiable receipt 72245c61-7730-4fa1-abc4-a94e789bda28, auditable at https://zambo.dev/run/72245c61-7730-4fa1-abc4-a94e789bda28 (verified live 2026-09-28).
